What a lovely B&B very comfortable & welcoming. Great location to all shops bars & restaurants. Nothing was too much trouble. The garden backed on to the River Derwent with a lovely bench seat to sit & enjoy the evening sun. Definitely recommend this B&B

The owners were very welcoming
Spotted here recently with my wife and my brother and his wife. Had a great weekend, beds were comfy, rooms were nicely presented and breakfast was lovely. The owners were very welcoming and took time to chat to us at every meeting. Will be returning at every opportunity
Friendly owners, fantastic breakfasts, comfy bed. Everything you need in a b&b.
Great location, very friendly reception, well recommend.
A lovely house
A lovely house in an idyllic location and welcoming owners.
We have just spent a very enjoyable few days at Riverbank . It was very friendly, homely and comfortable . The breakfasts were beautifully cooked and presented. Nothing was too much trouble.
Brilliant Easter weekend
We have just returned from a quite simply brilliant Easter weekend at Riverbank House in Matlock. We are a mid-twenties, well travelled couple, who like a bit of hill climbing and vintage shopping. At riverbank house, a warm welcome from the owners and a quick breakdown of the facilities was followed by a very tidy and well serviced room. Fresh tea and coffee facilities each day, and a wide range of breakfast options all contributed to a fantastic short break at Riverbank. Location wise, you cannot do better in Matlock, situated just down a small cul-de-sac, you have complete peace and quiet, but then, thanks to a quaint footbridge, you are actually just 2 minutes from all the shops Matlock has to offer in one direction and all the bars and restaurants in another. If you are considering staying here, I cannot urge you enough to do so!
A very warm welcome
A very warm welcome by host Jenny, and a very homely place. Great situation in the heart of the town and garden banks on the river Derwent. A great place and excellent location with its own parking.
Does what it says on the tin.
A traditional, good old B+B, in a fantastic location in the centre of Matlock.
Very friendly people who own and work there, and cant fault anything about our stay.
Lovely cooked breakfast in the morning, cooked fresh for you when you come down stairs, and a good selection that would keep everyone happy.
Its not the Ritz, but it is just what you want for a B+B……..
If we go back to Matlock in the future we will definitely stay here again, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic B&B – we will definitely be back!
On arrival we had a warm and friendly greeting from the gentleman host who was lovely! The building from the outside looked beautiful and it definitely didn’t disappoint on the inside either! I love the decor and it is very well suited to the style of the building. The bedroom was exceptionally clean and comfortable – once again I loved the decor! We had a very quiet and comfortable nights stay. The bedding was beautiful and we both slept well!
Our breakfast was much better than expected! We had an English breakfast and Eggs Benedict – absolutely no complaints, we loved the food and the service!
The lady who served us (I assume the owner) was really sweet and hospitable!
Overall, the location is great, the service was amazing and we will most definitely be back again soon! Thank you for making our stay so special!
Just got back home from staying at The Riverbank Guest House and we were not disappointed. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were lovely and cooked to perfection. Room was comfy and well equipped. The garden was fab and overlooked the river. Overall could not fault Riverbank at all. Will definitely recommend and go back
Great location and quaint B&B
Perfect hosts, great breakfast, high spec and comfy rooms. Perfect location. The garden backs onto the river and will be gorgeous in the Summers months.
Matlock also has a vibrant bar and cocktail scene for all ages, conveniently located near to the B&B (but not too close to be a nuisance).
A great B&B
What a gem…..a lovely B &B full of charm in a great location with beautiful gardens. The hosts were so welcoming, friendly and full of local knowledge and tips for good restaurants and bars. I had an amazing gluten free breakfast, cooked to perfection – a rare treat for a coeliac!! Would definitely recommend.
Attractive B&B with a beautiful garden
We stayed for one night on our way to Whitby and found this B&B to be extremely pleasant. It is set on a quiet road that is only a moment away from charming shops and restaurants. The bedrooms were comfortable and the staff, thoughtful and friendly.
Great location for Peak District
Excellent B & B, with a good location for anyone wishing to explore the surrounding Peak District. Only problem was with my sat nav using the postal address as it took us to a village 3 miles from Matlock! Use “Olde English Road” or “Old Derwent Road” for the sat nav to get you to Riverbank Guest house. Probably the post code would work!
If only we could have stayed longer!
My husband and I stayed here one night on our way back down to Essex from Gretna green. I had visited Matlock and Matlock bath years ago and had fond memories of the area. It was great to return and luckily I had booked this lovely B&B. Our room was beautiful and clean. It opened out to the garden which again was beautiful, the river Derwent runs right passed the B&B at the bottom of the garden. Literally a stones throw from the park, restaurants, shops and a short walk to Matlock bath. We had a nice meal in the Thai restaurant and visited the heights of Abraham also, we would recommend both. Breakfast at the B&B was delicious with a good choice of freshly prepared dishes. We just wish we could have stayed longer.
Literally just left this beautiful little B&B. Nipped up from home (long Eaton) with the missus for a night to see the illuminations. Was struggling to find anywhere to stay due to the busy period, Inna, the lady looking after the place in the absence of the owners, offered us a room due to a cancellation. Checked in to be greeted by Inna, warm, friendly and attentive. It was explained on checking in that the house was really busy and breakfast could be a tad late, no bother, we agreed a time to suit us all. she showed us to our room, number 1 which overlooks the rear gardens. The room is lovely, has everything you need and is spotlessly clean, spacious and warm. If I could offer a criticism it would be the mattress which for me was very springy so every time I moved so did the missus, no big deal, she slept well. Up for breakfast as agreed and there was no disappointment here either, it was lovely, very nicely cooked and filled my ever growing fuel tank to the max. I would have no hesitation booking here again. We live on a boat and don’t have a bath at home, for this reason we would book room 4 next time as it has a bath with the other rooms having showers. Thank you Inna & Denise for a lovey night.
Could not fault this B&B
We had two nights stay in the Riverbank Guest House, what a Fab little place.
Set in wonderful gardens, great location, good parking in the private road. Only two minutes walk into Matlock town for bars, restaurants and a beautiful park etc. Owner Graham and Jennie could not have been nicer, great breakfast each morning. The rest of the staff were lovely and very helpful to our needs. Matlock is a good location for visiting Derbyshire. And will be going again to stay in The Riverbank B&B..
Beautiful garden to match this beautiful B&B
Just returned from a weekend in Matlock, and even though I only live 2 hours drive away I have never been before. What a lovely part of the UK. Lovely B&B, we had a large room (no 10) which had a lovely view of the spacious garden, which the owners encourage you to sit out in, with the river at the bottom of it. The room was spotless and had a really comfy bed which is just what you need after a day exploring. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room, good size en suite too. Very close to the town centre and had free car parking. Breakfast was very plentiful and cooked fresh each morning. Thank you Jenny for your hospitality, we will return again in the future.
Just returned from an amazing stay, the owners could not make you more welcome. This B&B is in an ideal position for visiting Matlock, it’s a short walk to lots of nice restaurants, bars and beautiful walks. It’s also only about a 15 minute walk into Matlock Bath. The room was spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was fantastic, with plenty of choice, well presented and excellent staff. All that is left is for me to say a massive thank you to the owners, we will be back
Couldn’t get better
We had a fabulous stay here. Jennie was so welcoming from the moment we stepped in and everything about Riverbank was excellent. Our room was very comfortable, clean and there was everything you needed – even had wifi in our room! The breakfasts were also excellent. The location is also an added bonus – tucked away, but a few steps into the town. We will definitely return – this is how B&B’s should
Lovely weekend stay..
My mum had booked us into a “B&B” for the weekend of my brother’s wedding. I’ll be honest, I was only expecting a bog standard room a shave above a premier Inn or travel lodge. Well I was wrong. This is a luxurious and beautiful bed and breakfast, my partner and I with our 6 year old boy had a lovely room with a 4 poster bed, a pristine, clean and modern en suite bathroom with complimentary shower gels etc. The owners were so friendly and accommodating, the lady even helped me when my 6 page best man speech has been lost in transit and I had to begin writing it again from scratch an hour before I was due at the church plus trying to get ready at the same time as well (bloody nightmare)!!! Anyway, I digress, but with a lovely and vast breakfast offering coupled with friendly and personal touches from family like owners I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and was more than impressed and taken aback at the quality and luxury offered. If we are ever in Matlock again (given we live in Devon) we would most definitely stay here again. Thank you x
Incredible Guest House – Highly Recommend
Jenny and Graham saved our holiday when they took our last minute booking. Everything from the location, to the comfortable beds, to the scrumptious breakfast was perfect. You cannot go wrong with this B & B. We would come back in heart beat.
Comfortable and welcoming B&B
Lovely b&b. great welcome on arrival. room was large enough with a very comfortable bed and lovely hot shower. the breakfast was cooked to order and very tasty. excellent location in central Matlock, within easy walking distance of bars, pubs and town. we also walked to the heights of Abraham which is a short distance and also to Tansley which has some lovely pubs. plenty of parking at the b&b also.
